Tove Jansson’s beloved books

“My dearest Moomin product is a book about Snufkin. My mum and I got it from the hospital when I was born. It’s the first possession I ever got to have and it has been with me for as long as I have existed. Because of this, I have always seen Snufkin as my best and lifetime friend.”

Childhood memories

“The children’s Moomin plate and mug set from my own childhood that I used every day for breakfast before school. Even more special that my partner has the set from his own childhood in a different design. Now we use them for christmas porridge and coffee on christmas morning 💗”

“It’s hard to choose but I think it has to be my Moomin towel that my incredible grandma got for me when she went to Finland. That was when I was 4 years old, and now almost 20 years later, I still have the towel!! It is now too small for me to use on my body 😂 so I use it on my hair as a head towel. It is still in perfect condition and makes me think of my grandma, who is sadly no longer with us, every time I use it. And it reminds me of my life long love of Moomins ❤️”

“In the summer of 1990, I visited my grandparents in Finnish Lapland. When it was time for me to go home to Sweden, my grandmother bought a Moomin mug blue for me at the airport in Rovaniemi. This was the last time I met my grandmother, she passed away the following year. Therefore, mug blue is my dearest Moomin item, it is also my first mug in my collection which today is huge. But really, it’s just this first mug that really matters to me 🤍”

“2018 winter mug. I got to Finland in late November that year to aupair. It was a very hard first month, and this was a Christmas gift from my host family. It started my now pretty big collection, and my aupair year made me fall in love with Finland afterall (and of course the Muumit😅)”
