Mixed reality mobile game Moomin Move launches in Finland

Finnish studio Tribered is developing the Moomin Move mobile game, which uses the player’s location and augmented reality for a new kind of Moomin experience. The game soft launches at first through unique quests with selected partners. The first one was launched at Kew Gardens’ Easter Festival in London and Finland’s first soft launch is in July at Silja Line cruise ships (Silja Serenade, Silja Symphony, Galaxy, Baltic Princess). More partnerships in Finland are coming already this summer with a global launch of the game on the horizon.

“On Silja Line cruises the player gets to experience a Moominpappa at Sea themed adventure, where they help beloved Moomin characters in different quests around the ship. The adventure takes place on a unique indoor map of the cruise ship where the player is located using Bluetooth beacons placed around the ship,” says Jani Järvinen, CEO of Tribered. “The Moomins are a fantastic franchise for a mixed reality game, as the world is full of Moomin products and locations, which can be brought into the game, adding new kinds of content that draw from the real world. Tribered is specialized in creating experiences that mix the real world with games.”

In Finland, the game can now be played on Silja Line cruise ships. Silja Line’s Moomin family cabins on Silja Serenade and Silja Symphony guarantee an overall Moomin atmosphere during the whole boat trip!
