Moomin flowers to celebrate the Floral Design Day

Flowers – especially the wildflowers – were always important for Tove Jansson and Tove wearing lovely flower wreaths was a familiar sight.

Today is Floral Design Day and it is all about appreciating flower designs. Have you ever paid attention to “Moomin flowers“? Would you recognize them without Moomin characters around them? Maybe many of us find the flowers remarkable, beautiful and easily associated to Moomins.

Tove Jansson also painted flowers to decorate the horses appearing in the Moomin stories, for example, in the books Who Will Comfort Toffle? (1960) and Moominpappa at sea (1965).
