The beautiful Moominvalley Park mug by Moomin by Arabia was launched in 2019 when Moominvalley Park opened in Hanno, Japan. A limited number of mugs will be available in the Moomin and Iittala webshops starting November 3rd. Below you can find answers to some frequently asked questions about mug sales.
When does the mug become available?
The mug will become available on November 3rd, at 8 am Helsinki time (EET).
Where is the mug sold?
The mug will be available in the official Moomin webshops (shop.moomin.com delivers worldwide) and in the Iittala.com webshop (in Finland & Sweden).
If you are located in the UK or Germany, we recommend that you order from our local sites moomin.co.uk and moominshop.de. If you want to order the mug from the UK shop but are located outside of the UK, you will have to pay customs fees and import taxes. Please check your local regulations.
What is the price of the mug?
The price of the mug is 39.90e.
If you order from outside the EU, you might have to pay value-added tax and a customs fee. In Norway, we pay the tax for you directly.
Can I reserve a mug in advance?
The mugs can not be reserved in advance.
We will have a special stock reserved for Moomin Fanclub members. Join the Fanclub here, and you will receive a secret sale link before Thursday. The conditions of the sale are the same for the general sale and the secret Fanclub sale, and we cannot reserve mugs or guarantee you will get one.
How many mugs can I buy?
The purchase limit is set to 6 per customer.
Will the mug come with a box?
In Moominvalley Park Japan, the mugs come with a special box which is exclusive for them only. The mugs sold at moomin.com and iittala.com do not come in a box.
Will the mugs run out during the day?
The mugs will become available at 8 am (EET) on November 3rd, and they will be sold as long as the stock lasts. It is not possible to give an estimation of the availability.
Can I use a discount code when purchasing the mug?
No, all discount codes will be deactivated on the Moomin webshops during the mug sale.
Will the mug be reserved for me when I add it to the cart?
No, items added to the cart on shop.moomin.com are not yet reserved. The item is only reserved for you after checkout. Sometimes the products can run out while you’re finalizing the payment. In that case, the bank will direct you back to the webshop, and you will see an “out of stock” message. Your bank should return the payment in a couple of days.
When will the mugs be shipped?
The mugs will be delivered on a first-come-first-served basis starting November 3rd. We anticipate a rush of orders, and there will likely be delays in the shipping times listed on moomin.com. If you are located in the UK or Germany, we recommend that you order from our local sites moomin.co.uk and moominshop.de.
What if the mug I receive is broken or has manufacturing flaws?
In this case, please contact hello@moomin.com and include pictures of the mug and the shipping box.
What is the design of the mug like?
The Moomivalley Park mug features an illustration with many Moomin characters and a beautiful view of Moominvalley and Moominhouse.
The original artwork of the characters is from Tove Jansson’s ad for the bank Föreningsbanken (1956). The Moominhouse and the landscape with its trees are inspired by Tove Jansson’s comic Desert Island (1955). You can read more here.
At the bottom of the mug, there is Moominvalley Park’s logo and the text “by Arabia”.
