The Polarn O. Pyret stripes are a classic – and they’re now adorned with Moomins! The brand-new collection has pieces for both children and adults. A new favourite is the soft and comfy morning robe.

Polarn O. Pyret aims to create garments that can be passed on for generations. Their new Moomin collection celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Moomin stories with soft cotton clothes and nightware  – and what’s best is that it includes pieces for both children and adults. The limited edition collection is now available in Polarn O. Pyret stores and online.

Pass on the wisdom, the love, the curiosity.

“The timeless values within the Moomin stories deeply resonate with the DNA of Polarn O. Pyret. We felt this collaboration beautifully intertwines our shared vision of bringing joy, imagination, and kindness to children’s lives,” Product and Brand Director Martina Wernemar from Polarn O. Pyret tells.

Polarn O. Pyret is known for their high-quality children’s clothes that are designed for play in all weathers and made to last. Polarn O. Pyret’s fundamental vision is that each of their clothes should be worn by at least three children.

Stripes and softness

The collection features casual clothes and nightware in different Moominous styles, inviting children and adults to adventures.

“Moomin’s world is filled with charm and wonder, and we were inspired by how effortlessly the illustrations evoke a sense of playfulness and adventure. These are qualities we want to celebrate in children’s fashion, making each piece of the collection not just clothing, but a small window into the magical universe of the Moominvalley”, Wernemar tells.

Polarn O. Pyret launched their first PO.P Originals clothes in the 1970s. The striped cotton pieces have since become a Scandinavian children’s clothing classic, loved by children and adults alike.

The new collection makes the PO.P stripes now available in adorable Moominous versions. The bodysuits, pants and shirts are the perfect clothes for an active day at the daycare or an adventurous day outside.

Pass it on for generations. To the children, the neighbour, to those who need it the most.

Both the striped classics and the blue and white pyjamas with a Moomin pattern are available for both children and adults. Wernermar reveals that the pyjamas are her favourites from the collection: “Our nightwear is addictive, because of the softness, comfortable fit and cozy cuffs and with the beautiful illustrations of Moomins it is already a favorite at home.”

The beautiful pattern features several of the characters from Moomin stories. Which ones can you find?

The robe, made of soft organic cotton, is a future classic and a perfect match with the pyjamas.

The details in the designs are what makes PO.P such a popular brand amongst families. The materials used are soft, the designs don’t restrict movement and the flat seams don’t chafe the skin. Simply put, the PO.P pieces are a joy to wear.

Psst… Wernemar reveals that there are more treats coming soon: “While I can’t give away too much, I can say this collaboration marks only the beginning of our journey with Moomin. We have some exciting future collections in the works, which will continue to celebrate the shared values of creativity, sustainability, and a deep love for childhood exploration. Stay tuned!”

The limited edition collection is now available in Polarn O. Pyret stores and online.

80 years of Moomin stories

2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the Moomin stories. The central theme of the anniversary year is the Moominhouse and what it stands for – a sense of belonging, a place where the door is always open.

Tove Jansson wrote the first Moomin story, The Moomins and the Great Flood, during World War II to comfort herself in dark times, creating a world built on inclusivity and adventure. It is a tale about troubled times and a scattered family. It is also a story about hope, a story about the importance of belonging and having a safe place to call home.
