Japan Post Holdings Co., Ltd will release Japanese Moomin postage stamps on May 1st 2015 and this is the first time Moomin stamps are issued outside Finland! There will be both 52 and 82 yen stamps and they are sold in sheets with 10 stamps.
2 million sheets of the 52 yen stamps and 3 million sheets of the 82 yen sheets will be produced.
On the release date May 1st, there is a big event held in Tokyo, Japan at Kitte 1F Atrium to celebrate the new Moomin stamps. The event starts at 9.00 am and includes for example greeting from the Finnish Ambassador Manu Virtamo, Moomin workshops, and exhibitions. There is also a possibility to buy Moomin products (also Finnish Moomin stamps) and meet Moomintroll on the stage.
